Deep Dive: Smart Cities: A New Language and a New Vision
Sunday, October 15, 2017
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
The phrase “smart city” has exploded in marketing materials in the past decade, as new technologies and devices have made it possible to integrate and facilitate urban living in ways we never imagined. But sometimes it feels like the technology is in search of a problem.
In this session, we will focus on how to use these new technologies as tools, rather than see them as the end goal. The conversation will focus on how these tools, and others like them, can enhance the human experience in our communities.
This session will be of particular interest to entrepreneurs, urban planners, neighbor activists, artists and anyone trying interested in expanding our view of what’s possible in our communities. Using the unique opportunities at Union Point as a starting point, we will share ideas on how to move past the marketing language.
At the end of our session, we will have identified several possible engagements and activities that HUBweek can work on throughout the year to produce a model project at HUBweek 2018.
