Runnin': A circle of friends. An American epidemic.

Alex Foster. Kevin Sullivan. Sean Curtis. Jon Mahoney. They are all gone. Opioids took them one by one. They had shared a place called Somerville. A new STAT documentary takes an intimate look at a group of friends who grew up together, and who each fell prey to an epidemic.
In the last few years, the opioid crisis has reached terrible new heights. What started in the early 2000s as a pill craze fueled by the pharmaceutical drug Oxycontin transformed into a national nightmare as users switch to heroin or synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. Communities all over the US have been profoundly affected. In Runnin', STAT goes inside a tight-knit community just outside Boston, retracing the lives of these friends through the eyes of the families they left behind and the friends that barely made it through the same addictions alive.
STAT would like to thank our venue sponsor, Emerson College, for helping us continue this important conversation.
